Farming That Heals, Not Harms
The soil remembers.
After years of water and monoculture stress, farms in Thiruthiyamalai had turned brittle yielding less, holding no water, and losing the microbial life that made them fertile for generations.
At Green Miles, we believe agriculture must return to its ecological roots where farming nourishes not just food, but land, water, and community.
That’s why we plan to introduce a full-spectrum regenerative farming program across 500 hectares of revived land.
Our goal: build an agricultural system that is drought-resilient, toxin-free, low-input, and high-value for rural communities.
Farming That Regenerates Land, Lowers Risk, and Restores Farmer Dignity
A New Chapter for Small Farmers Begins With the Soil
For decades, farming in Thiruthiyamalai followed the same pattern:
– More borrowed seeds. More hope. Less return.
The soil dried. Yields dropped. Costs climbed. And farmers once confident in their land started walking away from it.
Green Miles Agriculture doesn’t push inputs.
It revives systems: soil health, water cycles, local seeds, economic value, and farmer control.
Our model supports farmers in shifting to low-risk, low-input, water-smart cropping while building income and restoring ecological balance.
What We Do
- Rehabilitating Soil, Not Just Planting It: We shall start by rebuilding organic matter through compost, intercropping, and seasonal cover. Healthy soil retains moisture, supports root strength, and yields better even in tough seasons.
- Switching to Smarter, Adaptive Crops: We promote a shift from high-dependence crops like paddy to resilient, low-input crops like aloe vera, millets, pulses, and native vegetables. These need less water, survive dry spells, and offer steady market value.
- Enabling Local Input Production: Instead of depending on expensive fertilizers or chemical packages, farmers are trained to make their own natural compost, soil boosters, and crop care mixtures using local materials.
What’s Changing
- Soil organic matter
- Input cost per acre
- Reduce Crop failure
- Farmer debt dependency
- Groundwater availability
- Stabilized near recharge zones
Why It Matters
Reduces external dependency
Increases profitability without chasing yields
Helps the soil recover and retain water
Builds year-round income with multiple harvest cycles
Restores farmer confidence in the land
It’s agriculture that makes sense again for the farmer, for the land, and for the future.
